Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between mechanical and electronic airbags?
The main difference lies in how they detect the accident and activate the inflation :
Mechanical airbags (with activation cable):
- They work by means of a cable (tether) that connects to the motorcycle.
- They are activated when the pilot physically separates from the vehicle.
- They do not require a battery or software.
- They are reliable, simple, and low maintenance.
Electronic airbags (with sensors):
- They incorporate accelerometers, gyroscopes, and algorithms that detect falls or impacts.
- They do not need a physical connection to the motorcycle.
- They require a battery and a charging system.
How do you reactivate an Airobag AIRBAG system?
Reactivation is a very simple process:
-
Check that there is no structural damage to the garment.
- Replace the CO₂ cartridge used in the activation.
- Reset the activator.
What certifications do they have?
Motorcycle airbag systems typically comply with European safety standards, such as:
- CE Certification
- EN 1621-4 (specific standard for motorcycle airbags)
- In some cases, additional independent laboratory approvals.
These certifications guarantee that the system has been tested in:
- Inflation time
- Impact absorption level
- Coverage of vital areas (back, chest, neck)
We always recommend verifying that the product clearly indicates its homologation standard.
